Heavy Construction Projects – Urban Interchanges

This project involved the construction of a new major $29,610,100 interchange of Routes 8 and 12 with NYS Thruway at Utica, NY. Over 5,000 feet of 36-inch sewer up to 30-feet deep was relocated. Piles were driven and concrete and structural steel erected for nine new bridges and three box culverts. In the scope of this project 35,000-cy of concrete were poured from an onsite plant. Also placed were 35,000-tons of blacktop, 300,000-cy of earthwork and 14,000-sf of mechanically stabilized earth walls. All associated electric, guide rail, landscaping, storm sewer and water line work was included in the project.
